Brintons Pty Ltd, a carpet-manufacturing company, based in Australian state of Victoria has recently announced that it would be closing down its Breakwater factory in June this year.

According to experts, various economic factors including strengthening of Australian dollar and reduction in tariffs has forced the company to take such a drastic step.

Nearly 100 workers are expected to lose their jobs once the unit shuts down.

Brintons, had tried to cut down the cost of production which resulted in downward effect on the selling prices. The unit realized that it will not be able to compete with other low cost manufacturing countries.

Industry insiders believe, a sudden overflow of Chinese products in the Australian market has made it difficult for the local enterprises to function smoothly.
