In 2007, the prices of viscose increased by 46 percent attracting significant attention of the chemical fibre industry. A forum of the Chinese viscose industry will take place on April 24, in Xiaoshan city of Zhejiang Province to discuss if the situation will remain just as lucrative for the present year as well.
A sharp increase in the demand of spun rayon yarn by the domestic and international weaving enterprise led to this surge in prices of viscose from 15,050 yuan in January 2007 to 21,900 yuan per ton in December of the same year.
Besides, plentiful profits also increased the productivity of viscose creating a balance between the supply and demand of the fibre. Infact, it has also lured huge investments in the industry directly contributing to the overall development of viscose production in China.
Considering this fabulous growth, the forum will initiate discussions on future prospects to ensure that the viscose fibre production and thereby the entire industry continues to grow by ten-folds in the years to come.
