Textile & garment export to EU augments substantially

According to The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), textile and apparel industry of Vietnam fetched nearly US $73 million from exports to EU market in February 2008.
The export of January and February witnessed an increase of 26.8 percent, by reaching $240 million, in comparison to same period of 2007.
Among all countries in the EU block, Germany is the biggest importer, with exports touching $19.4 million in February and approximately $59.2 million in the first two months of 2008, showing a year-on-year raise of 6.4 percent.
UK market took second position, as exports accounted for nearly $12 million in February and $44.2 million in first two months of 2008, a boost of 31.4 percent.
Other big customers within EU include France which imported products worth almost $22.4 million in January and February of 2008, experiencing a hike of 17.8 percent.
Textile and apparel export to Netherlands earned revenue worth $22.35 million, an increase of 40 percent and earning from Spain reached almost $20.8 million enjoying a growth of 24.6 percent.
