Sinkiang plans expansion of cotton spinning capacity

Some of the major projects of the textile industry of Sinkiang Province sailed off quite smoothly last year, expanding its cotton spinning production capacity by another 300,000 spindles and adding 100,000 tons of pulp and 50,000 tons of viscose to the existing stock.
Presently, the aggregate production capacity of Sinkiang Province has reached 3.50 million spindles.
Statistics show that the overall profit of the textile industry touched more than 500 million yuan in 2007, up by 286 million yuan of the previous year. Representing a rise rate of 134 percent, the development and economic benefit of the sector was the highest ever recorded in the province.
As for the present year, the local Government has expressed the desire to focus on cotton spinning and chemical fibre projects. Besides, it also has plans to introduce additional 300,000 spindles in cotton spinning and 150,000 tons of viscose.
The main objective of the Government is to strengthen the competitiveness of the local textile industry by continually updating the sector with the most latest and technically advance machineries.
