Market holds a strong wait-and-see attitude

May '08
Market prices for PTA, MEG were in adjustment on this Monday, May 5. Semi-dull and bright polyester chip prices settled flat, CDP chips, PET bottle slices consolidated in price.

Acrylic Staple 1.5 D × 38mm, acrylic top 3 D × 102mm prices moved sideways; CPL price unchanged, nylon 6 slice was stable.

Trading atmosphere of polyester filament was fairly thin, purchase enthusiasm of weaving enterprises from lower reaches was very less. Low-priced brands dominated the market; sales of some high-priced brands were disrupted. Currently trade volume of polyester filament was small;

Psychological emotion was very clear that people would buy in while market is up, no purchase when it is down; the market hold a strong wait-and-see attitude, therefore polyester filament is to show downward trend further.

Yarn market remained unaffected and rayon yarn products fell, cotton yarn and pure polyester yarn were in consolidation. Cotton yarn 40s had better demand, while other specifications were insipid.

In blended yarn products, prices of cotton and polyester yarn, polyester and viscose yarn products remained stable, turnover was small. Rayon yarn products fell in price, 20s and 30s cut 100 yuan per ton, due to recent decline in VSF price; yesterday VSF cut another 50 yuan per ton.

Market outlook of rayon yarn is expected to continue its downward consolidation.
