The Sabah Museum is holding its yearly event, Crafts Exotica, which will continue till May 27 at Heritage Village compound of Museum. The objective of organizing this event is to enhance the local culture and handicraft of Sabah and make it popular among people living in metro cities of Malaysia and tourists.

The handicraft of Sabah is renowned for excellent artisanship. Beautiful bamboo products including trays, baskets, lamp shades, floor mats and other decorative items are made in variety of shapes and sizes that attract lot of attention from visitors.

Even, Kain, a colourful woven piece of cloth that is used as a headgear by natives, is picked up by onlookers for beautifying their houses. The interesting combinations of threads and extensive embroidery have made Kain very popular among spectators.

The handicraft display at Museum over the years has made not only the local craft popular world over, but has also provided lively hood to the craftsmen.
