Trade with Taiwan reflects a rapid growth

Statistical reports show that in the first quarter of 2008, trade value between Chongging City and Taiwan amounted to US $116.763 million, rising by 500 percent than the same period last year.
Of the total, export value generated by Chongging City was $34.124 million, up by 408.7 percent, accounting for 2.7 percent of its total exports. On the other hand import value from Taiwan touched $82.639 million, up by 398.5 percent, accounting for 8.1 percent of the total imports made by the city.
Presently, there are some 776 Taiwan enterprises in Chongging city, accounting for 17.6 percent of the total foreign investment companies in the region.
The total contractual capital value is over $1.5 billion, accounting for 11.7 percent of the total foreign investment of Chongging city and in areas including IT and textile industry among others.
