Mohawk sells carpet manufacturing unit

Mohawk Industries, one of the leading names in carpet manufacturing, has sold off its home plants in Dalton. The facility was making losses due to lack of demand in the domestic as well as global market.
The unit is spread in 18.5 acres of land and has been bought by Dalton based US Floors, the biggest importer of bamboo and natural flooring in the entire nation. This location will now be used as corporate headquarters by the new owner.
Experts believe that, flooring industry in America is negatively affected by slowing economy, tight credit market, and low consumer confidence. The combination of these factors has reduced the sales of flooring in the country, forcing many companies to pull their shutters down.
