Cotton spot prices drop slightly, CCA

Last week (5.9-5.16), the great earthquake disaster took place in Wenchuan of Sichuan Province.
As far as CCA know, Sichuan is not the main cotton producing area, and the producing region is relatively far from the epicentre, the influence to cotton enterprises and the cotton producing is smaller.
The textile industry of Sichuan is not big in scale, some enterprises meet factory building damage, the water and electricity are unable to supply normally, it is difficult to resume producing in the severely afflicated area at present.
Domestic cotton spot price dropped slightly. On May 16, the value of China Cotton Index (CCIndex) of Type 328 grades is 13787 yuan per ton, decreased by 8 yuan per ton from last week.
China imports cotton price index (FC Index M) is 75.93 US cents per pound, transfer to RMB 13582 yuan per ton at 1% tariff which is lower 205 yuan than Type 328 grade of domestic cotton, 14094 yuan per ton at the sliding duty tariff which is only higher 471 yuan than 307 grade of domestic cotton.
