Consultative meetings regarding the fate of 24,000 textile workers are underway between various trade unions from the sector and the ministry concerned.
These meetings are being held to bring about a solution for saving the jobs of thousands of textile workers who are bearing the brunt of severe financial crisis.
Industrial sources have informed that the Government is currently planning for a mega project aiming at joining all the units in the textile industry.
Besides, the Government is also taking other measures to settle the prevalent problems faced by the sector. These measures are to be discussed with the trade unions, in the meeting to follow in this week.
So far, there are speculations that the measures proposed will aim at assembling all the units of the sector under one big company that will have the strength to face the faltering global textile market and the consequent adversities accompanied by it.
