CCFA takes steps to support spandex sector

China Chemical Fibers Association (CCFA), held a meeting on May 22, 2008 in Shaoxing city, Zhejiang Province to discuss the situation of Chinese spandex industry.
Experts present here stressed that in order to remain competitive in international market, enterprises needed to check the import flood of cheap spandex products.
It was accepted that there was fierce competition in this field, and to cope with it, the domestic manufacturers of spandex and related materials were required to work together.
CCFA announced that it would soon formally set up the Special Interest Committee for Spandex Industry, which will facilitate matters.
Association said that this Committee will focus on standardization as well as amend the government standards for Chinese spandex industry.
It will further promote organized trade and help avoid the unhealthy competition
It was also revealed that a public information platform would be formed to address the industry's concerns, advice and views.
Delegates also discussed several key problems in the spandex sector. They encouraged companies to increase the investment in research and technology, so as to upgrade product quality and efficiency. Importance to master the development in PTMEG and other such fields was also stressed.
