According to a survey conducted by Hanoi Economy University, the textile and apparel sector of Vietnam is one of the largest waste generating industry in the country.

Most of the waste is produced from dyeing and knitting segment, as lot of water is required while colouring the fabrics, and huge amount of dust is released during knitting. As a result, the industry has requested treatment for such sectors.

It is alarming to see that, more than 65 percent of total waste water from textile and apparel industry has not been treated and it is now causing pollution and is damaging environment.

Textile and apparel is one of the biggest sectors in Vietnam, both in term of foreign currency earnings and production. There are more than 2,000 enterprises in the country, out of which nearly 150 units are run by foreign investors.
