In the wake of increasing cost of production which has been plaguing the manufacturing units across the world, the Government of South China's Shenzen City announced a rise in the minimum salary level of workers with effect from July 1.
In accordance with this adjustment plan, four districts within the Special Economic Zone including Futian and Luohu district will see an increase in the wage level by over 17 percent from the previous year to touch one thousand yuan per month.
In other regions the wage level has been pushed up by 20 percent taking it to 900 yuan a month. The Government, providing justification for its move explained that the strategy was devised to attract more workers to the city which is presently running short of over 740 thousand laborers.
Besides, this decision will also help increase the competitive power and talent of workers, 7 million of whom are migrants.
