Boutique Tristan & Iseut inaugurated Vêtements Cookshire, its new manufacturing facility in the Sherbrooke region.
The ceremony was attended by Marie-Andrée Katia Bertrand, Regional Director of the Eastern Townships, acting on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Ministor of Labor and Minister of Canada Economic Development, Johanne Gonthier, MNA for Mégantic-Compton, and a number of other dignitaries.
The new plant will specialize in the manufacturing of the most complex clothing item to produce: the suit jacket.
"True to its corporate philosophy, Tristan has always strived to promote local manufacturing and job creation and to stimulate our economy," stated Gilles Fortin, President of Boutique Tristan & Iseut.
"The North American textile industry needs initiatives of this kind, and Tristan, through its activities, is committed to combining the competitive spirit with socio-economic conscience."
Owned by Boutique Tristan & Iseut, the new Vêtements Cookshire facility represents a total investment of more than $2.8 million.
The project will not only see the creation of some 15 additional full-time jobs, but it has also allowed the plant to position itself as one of the most technologically advanced in the Canadian textile industry.
The acquisition of new equipment at a cost of $1.6 million will notably contribute to providing a turnkey solution to the manufacturing of suit jackets.
The range of services offered includes: the treating of fabrics to prevent shrinking, the computerized cutting of fabric, clothing assembly and production, and a fusing process for the jackets.
