Analysts believe that 2008 has been the hardest year for Chinese textile and clothing industry in past 30 years.
Statistics show that, in the first season of this year, the export of Chinese textile and clothing products to the US marked over US $4.93 billion. Though China took up the top rank among all supplying nations, the exports recorded just 1 percent growth as compared to the same period of 2007.
China's textile and clothing export to Hong Kong reached $3.34 billion, registering year-on-year fall of 9.8 percent.
However, the industry's export to Japan touched $4.63 billion, up 8.7 percent as against the same period last year.
Experts believe that, even in these difficult times the Sino-Japanese trade relations were strong and textile industry had opportunity to strengthen even further. They advised Chinese garment enterprises to optimize the product structure as well as revolutionize management and administration.
Professionals stress that, implementing new and innovative marketing and advertising strategies was also important.
Japan was a country where Chinese products still held their ground and thus domestic companies should encourage Sino-Japanese cooperation and promote mutually beneficial trade environment.
