According to the latest data released by the customs, China exported about 82.96 million meters of rayon fabrics in May 2008, representing year-on-year increase of nearly 30.15 percent, and a rise of 9.2 percent from that in April.
On the other hand, total rayon fabric imported by China in May dropped 17.13 percent from the same time last year to reach about 2.578 million meters. This showed a fall of 7.93 percent from the previous month.
Export value registered US $99.539 million, up $47.7371 million or a sharp increase of 92.15 percent over the same period last year. This also marked the continued upward trend, showing a significant gain of just about 17.5 percent from the previous month.
The average export price in May stood within the range of $1-1.3 per meter, a year-on-year surge of 47.64 percent. Prices were also 7.57 percent more than that noted in April.
Meanwhile, Import value reached over $6.11 million, a year-on-year growth of 12 percent, but down 4.24 percent from the previous month.
Average import price of rayon fabric in May was revolved around $2.37 per meter, up 35.15 percent than the same month of 2007, and 4 percent over April 2008.
In the first five months of 2008, China's total export of rayon fabrics touched 353 million meters, representing an increase of 6.9 percent from the same period last year.
From January to May, total export value achieved was around $375 million, a climb of 49.58 percent from the same time last year. The average export price was $1.05 per meter, a year-on-year hike of 38.87 percent.
In the first five months of 2008, China's total imports of rayon fabrics were 11.935 million meters, plummeting 21.65 percent from the same time last year.
From January to May, total rayon fabric imports amounted to $31.093 million, a year-on-year decline of 2.36 percent. The average import price ranged between $2.60-2.65 per meter, escalating 25.9 percent on a year-on-year level.
