May experiences escalation in export of Polyester Tire Cord

According to customs statistics, exports of Polyester Tire Cord reached 2,459 tons in May 2008, a considerable increase of 390 tons or 18.86 percent when compared with April, and rising by 111.28 percent from the same time last year.

The average price of May exports was nearly US $3,100 per ton, declining by $218 or 6.58 from April, and 10.48 percent from the same period of 2007.

From January to May 2008, total exports of Polyester Tire Cord registered 11,943 tons, a growth of 89.75 percent over the same period last year. The average export price was almost $3,190 per ton, showcasing a year-on-year drop of 6.10 percent.

On the other hand, imports of Polyester Tire Cord in May reached 868 tons, down 30 tons or l3.34 percent from April, however, rising 16.30 percent from the same time last year. The average price of May imports was approximately $4,004 per ton, down 2.25 percent from April, but showcasing a year-on-year rise of 6.95 percent.

In the first five months of 2008, total imports of Polyester Tire Cord recorded 4,653 tons, representing a growth of 9.51 percent over the same period last year. The average import price was nearly $4,038 per ton, boosting by 7.07 percent when compared to same time of 2007.
