Ministry of Agriculture grants financial aid for modernization

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan has announced a grant competition titled, 'Agricultural Competitiveness Project' which will be jointly financed by the World Bank as well.

Monetary grants would be provided on a co-financing basis for modernization of private laboratories to control the quality and safety of agricultural products including cotton. The upper limit for such grants has been specified at 7.6 million tenge while the size of co-financing would not be less than 25 percent.

Both public and private entities can avail these grants for marketing infrastructure development and improving the image of agricultural production.

Development of marketing infrastructure would be given a maximum grant of 5.0 million tenge at one time wherein the size of co-financing would not be less than 35 percent, while for the latter, maximum amount of one grant is up to 6.0 million tenge, where the size of co-financing would be at least 30 percent.

Besides, grants will also be catered for activities like extension and technology introduction, where the maximum amount will be 3.5 million tenge and that of co-financing would be around 35 percent.

The first two rounds of the project are under implementation, with a total of 112 grants already sanctioned and financed by the World Bank.
