Export of polyester filament fabric mounts up in May

According to customs statistics, total exports of polyester filament fabrics in May 2008 reached 553.02 million meters, 23.96 million meters or 4.53 percent higher than April. This showcases a yearly increase of 17.53 percent.
The average price of May export of polyester filament fabrics was nearly US $0.85 per meter which is same when compared to previous month. However, a slight rise of 9.10 percent from the corresponding time of 2007.
In the first five months, total exports of polyester filament fabrics registered 2.335 billion meters, representing a significant hike of 16.07 percent over the same period last year. The average export price was around $0.83 per meter, an increase of 8.46 percent on year.
Even the imports of polyester filament fabric in May touched 70.22 million meters, a growth of 3.23 million meters or 4.82 percent from the previous month. However, experienced a drop of 18.73 percent, when compared to same period of 2007.
The average price of May imports was $1.48 per meter, 1.89 percent higher than April, boosting 29.03 percent yearly.
From January to May, total imports of polyester filament fabrics reached 286.88 million meters, a year-on-year drop of 19.13 percent. The average import price was approximately $1.41 per meter, up 27.56 percent over the same time of 2007.
