Taekwang to set up acrylic spun yarn unit in North Korea

Taekwang Industrial Co, a leading South Korean chemical fiber company gave voice to its plan of setting up a joint-industrial complex in North Korean border city of Gaeseong for producing acrylic spun yarn.
Mr Hyunchul Le, Manager of Spun Yarn Sales Department in Taekwang Industrial Co Ltd, told Fibre2fashion, “The annual production capacity of the complex would be around 40,000 ton which will be expanded in the future. The plant is expected to start operating from February 2009.”
It will be for the first time that a South Korean chemical fiber company will mark its presence to the north of the demilitarized zone separating the two Koreas.
