Ethylene prices for US shows a fluctuating trend

Presently ethylene is experiencing huge demand in the international market. To meet the requirement, various countries throughout the globe, are adding up production facilities and China is not lagging behind.

In last five years, ethylene production in China has seen a significant rise. With large ethylene production bases in Central and West China, the yearly output of the product, is bound to increase by manifolds by the year 2010.

Ethylene prices showed an ascending trend for almost all the importing countries on July 17. Prices quoted for Asian market showed some fluctuation. In the Far East and Europe countries a substantial rise in indicated. Where as quotations for United States experienced a dip in comparison to the last week.

Ethylene prices in Asia region:

Ethylene, CFR Northeast Asia, at US $1650-1660 per metric ton.
Ethylene, CFR Southeast Asia, at US $1700-1710 per metric ton.

Ethylene prices in Far East region on July 15

Ethylene, FOB South Korea, at US $1670 per metric ton.
Ethylene, FOB Japan, at US $1670 per metric ton.

Ethylene prices in Europe:

Ethylene, FD Northwest Europe, at Euro 1214.00-1218.00 per metric ton.
Ethylene, CIF Northwest Europe, at US $ 1826.00-1836.00 per metric ton.

Price in the United States:

Ethylene, FAS Houston, at US cent 66.125-66.375 per pound.
