Techtex India II-Conference on technical textiles on Aug-22

The rising standards of living triggered by 9% economic growth rate have thrown open new vistas for application of technology in areas of technical textiles. The application is spread across various sectors like infrastructure, health care, agriculture, packaging and consumer safety.
In many industrial countries value added technical textiles account for more than 40% of total manufacturing activity. However the contribution of the Indian textile industry towards technical textiles has been restricted to low technology and less sophisticated manufacturing.
Against this background, Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) is organizing a day long conference “Techtex India II”, on technical textiles at Chandigarh on 22nd August, 2008 with a focus to:
-Create awareness about the economic value of Technical Textiles -Create investment opportunities for entrepreneurs -Understand the need for creating demand and promotional atmosphere for the same
The theme of the conference is to promote Investment Opportunities for Indian Technical Textiles. The conference will focus on Agrotech, Geotech, Buildtech, Protech and Sporttech.
The key note address will be delivered by Dr J.N.Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles and the valedictory address by Mrs. Shashi Singh, Joint Commissioner of Textiles.
Among other esteemed speakers, Mr. S P Oswal, Chairman, CII National Committee on Textiles & Chairman, Vardhman Group will provide the opening remarks and seminar objectives.
The session on Agro-tech will be addressed by Dr M S Kang, Vice Chancellor, Punjab Agriculture University, Dr J C Katyal, Vice Chancellor, CCS Haryana Agriculture University and Mr. Vivek Sharma, Head – Agrotech Division, E.I Dupont India Pvt. Ltd.
Dr J.V.Rao will address the plenary session on applications in Sporttech / Packtech / Protech on “Role of TRAs in promotion of Technical Textile”.
