For spring-summer 2009, Loro Piana promises lightness. For men who are always on the move, devoted to authentic quality, Loro Piana proposes Cashmere Lightest, a line of versatile and ultra light items, under any circumstance and climate.

Thanks to an exclusive manufacturing technique, a thread of cashmere is twisted with a filament of extra-fine silk, the thinnest in the world (1 kg of this yarn unravels to more than 570 km!). Thus is born the exclusive fabric of the bomber Soulfly(400 g), entirely wrinkle-proof and super lightweight (fabric weighing 150g). With a lustrous surface that is pleasing to the touch, it takes up very little room making it an inseparable travel companion. For air travel as well as for more formal meetings, the Voyager Jacket(460 g) both elegant and functional, is a tailored blazer with a double set of buttons. It has multiple pockets for a passport, boarding pass and cell phone. Alternatively the J Jacket(420 g), has a slimmer line with a lovely pin-striped pouch on the inside to hold extra buttons made of horn and an eyeglass compartment with invisible cloth. For those who prefer the impalpable softness of Everett leather, there is the Yosemire Jacket(680 g) which due to its soft inside had no need for a lining.

To wear under jackets, or directly on the skin, v-necks, crew necks, polos and cardigans(170 g) in super-fine cashmere, featuring long, resistant, glossy fibres. This yarn is worked on the finest knitting frame in the world. The fineness of these fabrics implies an extremely difficult manufacturing process and a limited production capacity. The “seams” are made strictly by hand with extreme precision.

The Stola Whisperwind is made of the finest cashmere and silk ever used for textile accessories. The shawl, considerable in size, envelopes the wearer's neck in a rich, soft cloud of lightness. To preserve the integrity of the thread, the warp is extremely precise, done by expertly trained hands; the diagonal weave highlights its sheen. Available in colour blends that appear to change as they move – in blue, purple and orange with kummel-coloured selvages – or in solid colours – beige, bright blue and green with two-tone selvages.
