In the last five years, ethylene production in China has seen a significant rise. With large ethylene production bases in Central and West China, the yearly output of the product, is bound to increase by manifolds by the year 2010.

It has been noted that high demand of ethylene in the international market, has failed to put in effect in its prices. Most of the importing countries on have shown a downward trend in prices on August 6.

Prices quoted for Asian, Far Eastern and the US market showed a significant dip, where as quotations for Europe experienced a stability in comparison to the earlier week.

Ethylene prices in Asia region:

Ethylene, CFR Northeast Asia, at US $1490-1500 per metric ton.
Ethylene, CFR Southeast Asia, at US $1450-1460 per metric ton.

Ethylene prices in Far East region:

Ethylene, FOB South Korea, at US $1500 per metric ton.
Ethylene, FOB Japan, at US $1500 per metric ton.

Ethylene prices in Europe:

Ethylene, FD Northwest Europe, at Euro 1215.00-1220.00 per metric ton.
Ethylene, CIF Northwest Europe, at US $1826.00-1836.00 per metric ton.

Price in the United States:

Ethylene, FAS Houston, at US cent 49.875-50.125 per pound.
