Industrial production observes a decline in H1

According to the recently released data from National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), the Industrial production in the month of June slightly rose by 0.1 percent when compared to May 2008.

However, the Industrial output dropped down to 4.4 percent in June this year when compared to the same time of 2007. The industrial production decreased to 1.5 percent in the first six months of 2008, in comparison to same period of previous year.

The intake of goods on yearly base and corrected for seasonal fluctuations rose nearly 1.3 percent; in which non durable goods hiked by 3.1 percent, but durable items witnessed a decline.

In June this year the Industrial production in the textile and garment sector, corrected for the number of working days and boosted to nearly 10.1 percent. On the other hand, the footwear and leather industry observed the sharpest fall of 12.6 percent.
