AATCC launches its 4th Annual Materials Design Competition

The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) has launched its fourth annual Materials Design Competition, developed by its Materials Interest Group.
In keeping with the “materials” focus of the group, the competition aims to promote innovative product development from a materials design perspective.
Both graduate and undergraduate students are invited to compete, and design course projects are eligible as a base for entries.
The focus areas of this year's competition are Industrial/Technical and Sports Materials, Medical, Biomedical/Protective, Materials and Devices, and Smart/Electronic/Optoelectronic and Nano-materials.
Preliminary design proposals must be received by February 13, 2009. The final material product or device design is due April 15, 2009, which consists of a full text proposal and an electronic/digital poster board on CD.
Winning entries will be awarded US$1,000 for first place and US$500 for second place in each of the three areas.
Winners will be announced by June 1, 2009, and will be offered complimentary student registration for the 2010 AATCC International Conference where their entries will be displayed during the poster session.
If winners worked as a team, all team members (up to 4) will be provided this complimentary registration.
