Changzhou Xinhao Printing & Dyeing Co Ltd announced an agreement with Donghua University to co-establish the Xinhao Research & Development Center for Printing & Dyeing under the Modern Textile Academy, Donghua University. The agreement is signed within the Changzhou National Hi-Tech District.

Both sides have agreed to join hands in the development of materials originated from bamboo, which is considered as a brand new apparel material and is expected to extend the existing fabric options beyond linen, silk, cotton and chemical fibers.

Donghua University is a national key university founded on the basis of China Textile University, with strength in both textile science and engineering and is evaluated as first class and key subjects at China's national level.

The University also has the most advanced laboratory of fiber property enhancement in China. According to Jiang Zhuoqing, General Manager of Xinhao Printing & Dyeing Co Ltd, after the establishment of Xinhao R&D Center, a research team will be organized with R&D staff sent from both sides to develop the bamboo pulp fiber dyeing techniques.

This project, to be funded by the Science Support Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, aims to make use of China's abundant bamboo resources to produce apparels which are both cost-efficient and anti-bacteria.

With textile manufacturers struggling to cope with recent pressures such as RMB appreciation, rising labor cost, export rebate rate decrease, and sub-prime crisis, this new product has braved the difficulty and developed new business opportunities.

Relying on the strong technical background of Donghua University, the new cooperation plans to further co-found a R&D experimental base and solve such problems as finishing processing and manufacturing procedures, so as to achieve a win-win situation.

As introduced by the focal point of Donghua University, the University will adhere to the principles of well combining production, academic work and research efforts, so as to boost national science progress, economic development and social advancement.
