Prices of clothing & footwear drop in July

In July compared to June, consumer prices rose in total 0.1 %. Prices mostly increased in branches: recreation and culture 1.7 %, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels 0.4 %, transport and also hotels, cafés and restaurants 0.3 %. Prices of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance also rose 0.2 %, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, education, miscellaneous goods and services 0.1 %. Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages and also health decreased 1 %, clothing and footwear 0.6 %. Prices of postal and telecommunication services remained at the level of the last month.

Prices of clothing and footwear decreased as a result of lower prices of footwear by 0.6 % and clothing by 0.5 %.

Price rises in the branch of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels were influenced by price increases: imputed rentals of owner-occupiers 1.1 %, other services relating to the dwelling 0.9 %, services for regular maintenance and repair of the dwelling 0.7 %, actual rentals paid by tenants 0.6 %, heat energy 0.3 %, materials for regular maintenance and repair of the dwelling and also solid fuels 0.1 %. Prices of wastewater, water supply, waste disposal, electricity and gas remained at the level of the last month.

Price increases in furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance were affected by higher prices of goods and services for routine maintenance of household by 0.6 %, furnishings, carpets and other floor covering by 0.2 %. Prices of household textile decreased 0.5 %, glassware, tableware furniture and household utensils and tools and equipment for house and garden 0.2 %. Prices of household appliances did not change.
