In the past few years, ethylene production in China has seen a significant surge with the growing demand in the international market. With large ethylene production bases in Central and West China, the yearly output of the product, is bound to increase by manifolds by the year 2010.
However, recent drop in the crude prices has affected ethylene prices in the domestic region. High demand of the product, through out the globe has failed to pick up the prices on August 20.
Prices quoted for Asian, Far Eastern, European and US market noted a drastic fall compared to the previous week.
Ethylene prices in Asia region:
Ethylene, CFR Northeast Asia, at US $1340-1350 per metric ton. Ethylene, CFR Southeast Asia, at US $1290-1300 per metric ton.
Ethylene prices in Far East region:
Ethylene, FOB South Korea, at US $1360 per metric ton. Ethylene, FOB Japan, at US $1360 per metric ton.
Ethylene prices in Europe:
Ethylene, FD Northwest Europe, at Euro 1185-1190 per metric ton. Ethylene, CIF Northwest Europe, at US $1660-1670 per metric ton.
Price in the United States:
Ethylene, FAS Houston, at US cent 44.500-44.750 per pound.
