By 18 votes in favour, three against and two abstentions, members of the Technical Commission of National Biosafety (CTNBio) approved the commercial release of cotton tolerant to glifosinato ammonia, requested by Bayer CropScience Ltda. With approval of the committee, the next step is the release of the product by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (map).

"The work is being productive. We are working since February on opinions and other activities, and only just managed to vote. We can not rush these decisions," said the chairman of the CTNBio, Walter Colli.

Even in the morning, were approved 30 applications planned for release into the environment (search). The members of the committee also adopted several measures as an amendment in Committee of Internal Biosafety (CIBio) and Certificate of Quality on Biosafety (CQB).
