Milliken & Company announced that it has acquired Western Nonwoven Inc's fire retardant barrier assets and geotextile business out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The transaction occurred through one of Milliken's wholly-owned subsidiaries.
With this acquisition, Milliken will enhance its product leadership in the fire retardant barrier category. Milliken will continue to manufacture and sell its Paladin fire retardant barrier products with the same high standards and commitment to service.
Milliken will support Western Nonwoven's existing customers by manufacturing Western's Esyntial Safe products under Milliken's market leading Paladin brand.
Through this acquisition, Milliken also gains access to the Sandmat product line. Sandmat is a geotextile non-woven product that provides unique properties to the golf course development and remediation community. Milliken will continue to service the industry under the SandMat brand.
Acquisition of these two specialty non-woven based businesses further strengthens Milliken's specialty non-woven capabilities.
Eric Knauss, President of Milliken's Performance Products Division, commented, “This purchase is consistent with Milliken's intent to grow in the non-wovens arena and will serve to expand market and customer access.”
