Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) recently released a report for first half of the year, according to which textile and apparel industry imported nearly 78.8,000 tons fibre of all types worth US $128.8 million for local production, depicting year-on-year rise of 2.2 percent in volume and 16.4 percent in value.
However, in the month of June, import of fibre figured to 113,000 for $17.9 million depicting decrease of 10.7 percent and 12.6 percent in volume and value respectively compared to previous month.
Market experts are of the opinion, this down fall has occurred due to strong hike in price of import; reduced production because of credit crisis and high inflation.
Key countries who supplies fibre to Vietnam, are Taiwan and Thailand.
