The National Chamber of Exporters will be once again organizing NCE Export Awards on September 26 at Hotel Hilton Colombo. This Award ceremony is one of the most prestigious functions that the entire Sri Lankan business community looks forward to.

For learning more about NCE Export Award, Fibre2fashion, contacted Mr L S G Tillekeratne, Director Member Services & New Projects, NCE, who stated, “The NCE is the only private sector chamber providing services to exporters. The Chamber initiated the annual export awards in 1993, since then the event has been held successfully without a break for 16 years. The objective of these awards is to recognize excellence in exports of Sri Lankan export enterprises and to reward export performance.

“This has become a benchmark for all similar events conducted by the state or private sector institutions in Sri Lanka. It has become the most prestigious and looked forward to event, in the business calendar of the country.”

Award winners are selected from each of the three main categories of Export of Products, Export of Business and Professional Services and Suppliers and Service Providers to Exporters.

While talking about the criteria NCE follows in selecting the enterprise, Mr Tillekeratne divulged, “The jury mainly looks into Export Performance, Market and Product Development, Value Addition, Effective Management of Marketing and Capital, and Brand Marketing of the company. Export enterprises are classified into small, medium, large and extra large based on their capital investment and total turnover for awards under various sectors. ”

“All product categories under the textiles and garment sector are considered for awards, a Gold Award for the Winner, Silver Award for the Runner-up, Bronze Award for the second Runner-up, and Merit Certificates."

The number of applicants competing for awards has shown a considerable rise, this year the Chamber has received around 140 applications. This shows that NCE has carved a niche for itself in the minds of entrepreneurs who aspire to get recognized for the contribution they make.
