Non-woven cloth sector may lead global industry, soon!

Over the past few years non-woven cloth industry of China has developed rapidly, making its mark in the global market.

Currently, there are six top non-woven cloth production bases in the country, namely, Henan, Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, Fujian and Guangdong province.

Infact, it has been noted that the production of this industry marked a significant surge even during this tough year.

Statistics show that in the first 7 months of 2008, the non-woven cloth output of China reached around 0.44 million tons, up 31.28 percent than the same period last year.

Sources say that Chinese enterprises from this industry imported 54.85 million worth of advanced machinery, a year-on-year surge of over 149 percent, so as to cater to the growing demand for non-woven cloth.

Besides, the annual consumption of non-woven cloth products in China is just one kilogram per person. However, its growth-rate has reached over 7.5 percent, reflecting a strong potential in the domestic markets, as well.

Nevertheless, experts stress that though this industry is doing well, it has not been untouched by the present trade frictions like RMB appreciation, rising raw-material prices and weakening US economy.

For instance the price of polypropylene went up by almost 3000 yuan per ton on average in the May-June 2008 period.

Thus, experts say that Government must not neglect non-woven cloth industry, but instead provide maximum support, so that it can expand its influence and exploit the rising potential in the international market.

This way to China can ensure that it develops impressively and becomes the top non-woven cloth base in the world!
