Houston-based Westlake Chemical opens Shanghai office

Westlake Chemical Corporation, the Houston-based petrochemical and fabricated products company, announced the establishment of an office in Shanghai, China. The official opening ceremony for the office was attended by Westlake's President and CEO, Albert Chao, and other company executives.
In speaking of this new office Mr. Chao stated, "We are excited to open this new office in Shanghai to serve as the headquarters for our China operations and our greater Asian business initiatives.
Our company has a strong historical presence in Asia and we believe this office will provide us enhanced access to global markets and to new commercial and business development opportunities within the region."
Westlake Chemical Corporation currently has a joint venture operation in nearby Suzhou producing approximately 500 million pounds per year of products, including PVC resin and PVC films and window profiles, with approximately 700 employees.
