Sep '08
Specialty chemicals company LANXESS AG is to raise its prices worldwide for leather chemicals effective October 1, 2008. The increases, which vary according to region, are in the single and double digit percentage range, depending on the product.

The Leather business unit sees itself forced to pass on to the market the increased costs of raw materials, energy and transport, which differ significantly from one product to the next.

LANXESS is one of the few suppliers worldwide to supply products needed in all stages of leather manufacture including inorganic and synthetic tanning materials, preservatives and fatliquoring agents, dyestuffs and tanning and finishing auxiliaries.

The Leather business unit belongs to LANXESS's Performance Chemicals segment, which achieved total sales in fiscal 2007 of EUR 1,970 million.

LANXESS is a leader in specialty chemicals with sales in 2007 of EUR 6.61 billion and currently around 15,100 employees in 21 countries. The company is represented at 44 production sites worldwide. LANXESS's core business comprises the development, manufacture and sale of plastics, rubber, intermediates and specialty chemicals.
