Textile & apparel export to Korea rises significantly

According to Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) in August 2008, textile and apparel exports turnover of Vietnam to Korea grew significantly. There is a remarkable growth of nearly 111 percent over previous months and almost 118 percent when compared to same period 2007.

For the first eight months this year, the exports turnover climbed to approximately US $81.4 million, representing a year-on-year rise of 62.8 percent.

Major products that helped nation fetched high revenue in August include jacket suit that witnessed a hike of 16 percent over July 2008 and up 239 percent when compared to same period of 2007. Fur towel observed a hike of 247 percent and 228 percent, trousers demand went up by 102 percent and 56 percent respectively.

Even overcoats contributed to the total revenue earned as it experienced a hike of 214 percent when compared to July and 70 percent over same period of 2007. Sweater shipment also rose in August to 21 percent over previous month and 155 percent when compared to same period of last year.

From January to August the exports turnover of key products like jacket suits showcased an increase of 160 percent over same period last year. Fur towel rose 67 percent, trousers witnessed a boost of 93 percent, elastic shirt went up by 114 percent when compared to same period of last year.

During the same period export of overcoat represented a growth of 72 percent, sweaters 177 percent and gloves observed a rise of 217 percent when compared with January to August of 2007.
