Mr Le Quoc An, President of Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) and Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas) has recently said that textile and garment sector of the country is moving steadily towards its target of earning a foreign exchange of US $9.5 billion in 2008 and $25 billion in 2020.

Presently countries from America, Africa, and European Union are shifting their production bases to Asian region and Vietnam is taking advantage of this situation by luring foreign investments.

However, the competitiveness among Asian countries is fierce. Additionally, increasing number of technical and commercial barriers is posing great challenges to Vietnam's textile and garment industry.

In order to encourage Vietnamese textile enterprises and building brand name and local textile and garment product, a programme is being organized each year by Vitas. This year the event held on September 30, where in the title of Typical Enterprise was awarded to few of the best companies.

This year around 315 enterprises participated in this programme. Out of them 51 enterprise bagged the title, including Viet Tien Garment Company, Viet Thang Knitting J.S.C, Coats Phong Phu J.V.C, Tien Tien Garment company, Garment 10 Company, Nha Be Garment J.S.C, Scavi J.S.C, Hoa Tho Garment Corporation, Sai Gon 3 J.S.C, Thai Tuan Textile and Garment J.S.C.
