Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade released a report showing importing price of polyester yarn. According to the available statistics during the week from September 18 to 25, the prices witnessed an increasing trend at all supplying markets, stood at US $1.61- 2.17 per kilogram.
The price quoted from Malaysian market stood at $1.74 per kg on average, that rose by 13.5 percent compared to previous week, but stood flat in comparison same period August 2008.
Average price from the Indonesian suppliers was $2.17 per kg, registering surge of 13 and 5.2 percent respectively. Thailand quoted at $1.62 per kg, showing 14.2 percent hike in comparison to previous month.
It is noteworthy that prices given by Korea stood at $1.64 per kg showing decline of 10 percent when compared to similar period of August. The price of raw 100 percent polyester yarn (4D x 51 mm) also plunged by 3.8 percent at $1.75 per kg.
However, a declining trend in the import prices of fibre can be witnessed at most of the markets.
The price of polyester staple fiber (1.4 D x 38 mm) from Thailand stood at $1.43 per kg, down 7.1 percent while the price of same products supplied by Taiwan stood at $1.5 per kg.
