"Due to financial crisis, spending power of the consumer has gone down. Most of the time people expend money on luxury items, when economic condition permits. With the lurking financial crisis, consumers will now purchase essential items only. Since Bangladesh manufacture and export mainly low value added items, demand for these products from both the US and big corporate houses will not go down, hopefully. Therefore there may not be a very serious impact on the apparel export trade", opines Mr Towfique Hassan.
The Asian textile industry is now looking forward for better future ahead.
