TN textile sector wilts under persistent power cuts

Incessant power cuts in the state of Tamil Nadu have triggered ire with in the textile industry chain. The region is fighting to survive electricity cuts for more than 10 to 12 hours, and this has left the industrial districts of Vellore, Salem, Erode and Coimbatore handicapped.
According to E V K S Elangovan, Union Minister of State for textiles, power cut in Tamil Nadu, has hit the textile sector quite badly.
While addressing a reporter's meet, the Minister said that the state Government must take a stand to end the power crisis and start more power generation units.
He emphasized on setting up cooperative organisations in order to protect the handloom and powerloom sectors and their workers.
