Asian ethylene market prices moved up slightly

Asian ethylene market improved on Wednesday with no real intention of offers against bids. Due to constant declining operation rate of crackers, current supply of ethylene is tight.

Influenced by sluggish demand, South Korean Yeochun Naphtha Cracking Centre (YNCC) had shut down its No 3 cracker with a capacity of 400,000 tons per year on Wednesday morning, while the operation rate of another three crackers remained at 70 percent without any change for the time being.

On November 19, ethylene prices for Asia moved up, for Far Eastern and European region remained stable where as for the US prices slipped slightly as compared to prior week.

Ethylene prices in Asia region:

Ethylene, CFR Northeast Asia, at US $400-410 per metric ton.
Ethylene, CFR Southeast Asia, at US $400-410 per metric ton.

Ethylene prices in Far East region:

Ethylene, FOB South Korea, at US $355 per metric ton.
Ethylene, FOB Japan, at US $355 per metric ton.

Ethylene prices in Europe:

Ethylene, FD Northwest Europe, at Euro 521-525 per metric ton.
Ethylene, CIF Northwest Europe, at US $540-550 per metric ton.

Price in the United States:

Ethylene, FAS Houston, at US cent 19.500-19.750 per pound.
