The trend of slapping anti-dumping duties unfavourable to domestic industries seems to be continuing. In a latest development, the Trade Commission of Korea has leveled anti-dumping duties on polyester filament yarn products originating from China and Taiwan for the next five years.

The commission revealed that investigations conducted since the beginning of the year indicated under-cutting of prices by exporters from China and Taiwan of polyester partially oriented yarn (POY) which was hurting the domestic manufacturers of POY.

The anti-dumping duty ranges from 2.97 percent to 6.26 percent depending on the extent of price cutting indulged in by the exporters.

The investigation was carried out on complaints received from two major manufacturers of POY. Domestic demand for POY in 2007 stood at 93,049 tons with imports of the same reaching 30,331 tons or 32.6 percent of demand.
