Growth rate in exports from Hebei far ahead of national average

Since August, exports from Hebei to the EU have once again risen by 10 percent while exports to the US started to pick up September onwards. Shipments from the textile and garment sector rose to US $240 million in October, an increase of 34.9 percent and the largest increase for a single month in ten months. Of this, garments exports alone grew 39.8 percent, again the highest peak in recent years.
Exports to the EU and the United States indicated rapid growth, realizing a rise of 37.9 percent and 60 percent respectively and shipments to Russia and Japan rebounded from their low levels and recorded an increase of 71.2 percent and 30.4 percent, respectively.
Exports to ASEAN and Africa soared 56 percent and 35.8 percent respectively in the month of October, while in the previous month exports to these two regions had risen by only 2.9 and 2.7 percent respectively. As of October, textile and garment exports from Hebei Province totaled US $2.31 billion in the first ten months of 2008, up 14.3 percent year-on-year and 5.7 percent higher than the national average.
