The Vietnam International Trade Fair for cooperatives and SMEs has begun at the National Exhibition Centre from December 2, 2008. The fair has been jointly organised by the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance and the International Cooperative Alliance (Asia-Pacific).
The fair has around 393 stalls featuring products from the rich heritage handicraft industry of the country. Along with these, handicraft products from USA, France, China, Germany, Japan and the ASEAN can also be seen show cased at the fair.
Among many items on display are garments, accessories and footwear and numerous handicraft products made by the rural artisans of Vietnam. The opening of this fair, the first of its kind in the country, coincides with the meeting of the International Co-operative Alliance Asia & Pacific Regional Assembly.
The fair provides a golden opportunity to artisans from the handicrafts sector to showcase their skills in front of an international gathering from the industry and will go a long way in the further development of the sector.
