Ethylene prices remain steady

During last week, starting from December 1-7, prices of Ethylene in various Asian markets remained steady. In the Far East Asian markets like Japan and Korea stood at US $410 per ton; In South East Asian market prices stood at $440 per ton.
In Indian market price of Ethylene were quoted at $445 per ton which was increased by $5 per ton recently. It is expected that in near future, prices of ethylene will subdue because of ample availability.
In the European region Ethylene prices hovered at $510 per ton.
In the USA market no big trading deals were signed during the beginning of the week; last traded price was quoted in range of 15.25 cents per pound to 15.50 cents per pound.
In the mean while, Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO), that mainly produces ethylene and Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), expects to start up two of its projects during the first half 2009.
This was announced by Mohamed Al-Mulla, General Manager of QAPCO, at the third Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) forum, held at Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai, UAE, on December 2 - 4, 2008.
