Textile & handicrafts fair in Jharkhand from Dec 17

The “Rashtriya Saras, Hastashilp Evam Khadi Mahotsav-2008”, a textile and handicraft fair sponsored by the State Rural Department, Jharkhand in association with Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles will be held in Ranchi from December 17 to January 5.
The fair is being organised by the Jharkhand Rajya Khadi Evam Gramodyog Board, which functions under the Department of Industries. Disclosing details about the fair, the Industries Minister, Mr Sudhir Mahato said that this year's fair would be bigger than the previous ones with about 600 artisans from across the country expected to participate in the fair.
Competitive events such as essay writing and sit-and-draw would be organised along with a seminar for poets. People who are interested in producing and taking up handicrafts as an occupation will be provided training. Many folk artist performances have been planned during the duration of the fair.
