Cotton imports from India into Shandong port grow sharply

According to statistics, Shandong ports imported 948,000 tons of cotton in the first eleven months of this year, an increase of 9 percent over the same period last year and amounting to US $1.59 billion, an increase of 29 percent. The average import price stood at $1672 per ton again up 18.4 percent.
369,000 tons of imported cotton was meant for the processing trade, an increase of 15 percent and accounting for 38.8 percent of total cotton imports by Shandong port during the same period.
Imports from the United States declined to 394,000 tons, down 2 percent while on the other hand imports from India and Uzbekistan touched 264,000 tons and 135,000 tons, an increase of 50.5 percent and 26 percent, respectively.
The three markets together accounted for 83.6 percent of total cotton imports from Shandong port during the same period.
