'Revival plan for nine major industries' - Mr Ping, NDRC

Mr. Zhang Ping, director of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently said that, the state will introduce and implement recovery programs as soon as possible for nine major industries, like iron and steel, automobiles, ships, petrochemicals, textiles and garments, light industry, non-ferrous metals, equipment manufacturing and information technology.
On behalf of the State Council, Zhang Ping delivered a report on the active measures conducted by the State Council to cope with international financial crisis, ensure stable and rapid economic development at the meeting of the National People's Congress Standing Committee on December 24.
While preparing these plans, it is necessary to focus on the security of current growth and it is also necessary to seize the opportunity, through independent innovation, technological transformation, to promote structural adjustment, energy-saving and waste reduction, protect and develop pillar industries and key enterprises and prevent the resurgence of production capacities that are technologically backward and have already been scraped.
The state will make great efforts to establish revival plans which have targets, will be focused, will combine time frames both near and far and these plans will address the trouble causes from the surface as well as depths.
