There were over 35 stalls displaying locally made handicraft products, which included garments, jewellery, shawls, handbags and other small and big handicraft and handloom items. The expo provided an opportunity to domestic entrepreneurs to network with traders from the SE Asian countries.
Apart from the domestically manufactured products on display, there were other items from the SE Asian countries featured at the fair. According to sources, the expo met with stupendous success due to the visitors from SE Asia.
This event according to them, other than providing a stimulus to the handicraft trade provided a window to the outside world and in the long run will help the development of the sector and promote Shillong as a hub for the states of the North East.
